Methylsulfonylmethane is the organic form of sulfur. In contrast, sulfur contained in sulfites, and other sulfur derivatives used as food preservatives, is inorganic. The unique action of MSM in all tissues is to decrease the pressure inside the cell, and to remove fluids and toxins.
Presently, the major application of MSM is for swollen and painful joints. That is quite understandable, since sulfur is normally found in and around bone structures in the body.
