What is the difference between cross trainer and elliptical trainer?

Both terms are repeatedly used as synonyms, which is not correct, as they are two different pieces of sports equipment. Both are designed similarly and are used primarily for endurance training. The biggest difference is the position of the flywheel. While the flywheel is located at the back of the crosstrainer, it is located at the front of the elliptical trainer. But the motion sequence is also different. The crosstrainer imitates a jogging-like movement when using while the elliptical trainer is more like Nordic walking.

What is the difference between an exercise bike and bicycle ergometer?

To keep fit or burn calories properly, the exercise bike or ergometer as a fitness device is now part of the basic equipment. Even if these 2 devices are used as synonyms, they are different devices. In short, the exercise bike is not as technically complex as the ergometer. It is characterized by very simple equipment and the resistance is generated by means of a brake. An ergometer, on the other hand, is a power measuring device. The resistance can be adjusted to the exact watt and it is possible to simulate different workouts. An ergometer is also used in performance diagnostics.

The disadvantages of exercise bikes are in principle the advantages of ergometers. For some annoying when training on these bikes is the fact that the concentricity is usually worse and the resistance can not really be adjusted well. If the exercise bike warms up due to pedaling, then the resistance often changes as well. In this case, the flywheels grind on the brakes and the resistance is not even. Exercise bikes are therefore more for rehab patients and the ergometer for people who want to train specifically.

What is a Recumbent Bike?

A recumbent bike is basically a recumbent bicycle. It originated in the rehabilitation field and from there has found its way into gyms and living rooms. Due to the high backrest, the lumbar spine of patients can be relieved and also for very overweight patients, a Recumbent Ergometer is the perfect training device. But also for people for whom a comfortable sitting position is important during training, are well advised with a Recumbent Ergometer.

What is an Indoor Cycle?

Indoor cycle or spinning wheels are probably one of the first fitness equipment ever. It consists of a flywheel from 10kg and a felt block as a braking mechanism. Power is transmitted to the flywheel via a chain or a toothed belt. An Indoor Cycle has a rigid hub, so no freewheel. A computer is deliberately omitted in order to be able to concentrate fully on the training. In the gyms, the training is often offered in groups and with musical support.
