Without a reliably functioning bicycle drive, the bike is no more than a scooter. Only through the interaction of bottom bracket, cassette, chain, chainrings, sprockets and crankset, the power from the thighs is transferred optimally to the ground. Whether you want to replace worn chainrings and sprockets or give your bike a drive upgrade. Starting from the bottom bracket to crank sets for MTB, road bike and city bike, we leave nothing to be desired.
The bicycle drive is composed of several components like a Swiss clockwork. Each component has a direct influence on the driving behavior.
- The chain transmits the power of each pedal revolution from the crank via the sprocket set to the rear wheel. Depending on the number of sprockets in the sprocket set, you will need an 8-, 9-, 10- or 11-speed compatible chain.
The cassette (also: sprocket set) is composed of individual sprockets. Here, the number of teeth on the individual sprockets and the gradation between the sprockets determines the gear ratio. The rule is: the greater the range of teeth between the sprockets, the more suitable a cassette for mountainous terrain.
The chainrings are located on the crank and, together with the crank arms, form the crankset. The number of teeth on each chainring determines the gear ratio. Note: A large chainring provides more power on the road, a small chainring allows higher cadence on the mountain.
The cassette or sprocket set consists of 7 to 12 sprockets, depending on the model. In our store you will find a wide selection of different sprockets to replace worn parts.
No matter whether 1-speed, 2-speed or 3-speed cranks. The crankset is the heart of every bike. The more blades are installed in it, the greater the range of possible ratios, which allows for a smooth ride. Sets with fewer blades, on the other hand, are lighter and sportier.
This component forms the receptacle for the crankset including crank arms. If the bearing is worn after several kilometers on the bike, your bike is quickly fit again thanks to simple replacement.
