What are the advantages of SUP?
Stand Up Paddling offers a variety of uses in the field of fitness, experience, discovery, freedom, nature experience and relaxation. Only two skills are required to practice the sport: Standing and swimming. Rivers, lakes, canals are equally suitable as sports grounds for the use of SUP. Experiencing and enjoying nature, switching off, relaxation and regeneration in nature as well as a high fun factor are positive effects - similar to classic sports such as running, cycling, swimming or cross-country skiing. The flowing movements can result in a "flow experience" that leads to a feeling of joy, happiness and satisfaction. The special body perception and body experience make outdoor sports a special experience - regardless of age, physical condition and fitness level.
What equipment do I need?
All you need to practice is a board and a paddle. Depending on the area of use and requirements, there are a variety of different designs in terms of material and shape. Basically, one distinguishes between hardboard or inflatable (inflatable) board.
What is trained with SUP?
Stand Up Paddling is the perfect training tool for the whole body and improves the overall physical fitness. Especially the torso is trained, as a certain basic balance is a prerequisite. This is already visible during the first stand up attempt. To maintain an optimal standing position, constant fine weight shifts in the balls of the feet and heels are necessary. Due to the many balancing movements, the central nervous system is constantly activated. This leads to an improvement in the ability to balance. In addition, back, abdominal, shoulder, arm and leg muscles are stressed and strengthened. Paddling especially trains and shapes the arms. Due to the individual load possibilities of frequency, paddling intensity and duration, SUP is also suitable for training endurance. Another advantage is that it is easy on the joints without putting too much strain on the body.
