Features of men's e-bikes
The most striking difference between a men's bike and a women's bike is the high top tube, which serves as a stabilizing connecting piece. It sits parallel to the ground or is slightly sloped between the seat tube and head tube. The so-called diamond frame provides more stability and safety.
Due to the design, the distance to the handlebars or wheelbase is greater and the steering angle is different. Handlebars and grips are also larger.
There is another difference in the shape of the saddle: for anatomical reasons, the nose is shorter on the men's saddle.
Note: female riders from a height of about 160cm and those who have already gained experience on the MTB can also reach for a men's e-mountain bike or unisex model. In our online store you will also find specific women's e-MTB. For women's e-bike models click here.
Which men's bikes are available?
E-bike men's bikes are available in different designs. Choose your men's e-bike depending on the intended use:
- Men's e-city bike: You're on the road a lot in the city, want to get to work or run your errands quickly and easily? With a city e-bike, you escape the city traffic and also don't have to look for or pay for a parking space. The e-bike for the city has a full StVZO equipment. Thanks to a low-entry frame, it's easy to get on and off. A comfortable, well-sprung saddle as well as a practical luggage rack and an ergonomic stem make the ladies' e-bike the first choice in the city.
- Men's e-trekking bike: The combination of road bike, city bike and mountain bike makes the trekking bike ideal for excursions over roads and forest paths as well as gravel and dirt. E-trekking bikes have a suspension fork so that riding on rough and bumpy surfaces is also possible. In the men's segment, the diamond frame is predominantly found, which is the most popular and widespread frame model among bikers thanks to its stiffness and lightness.
Another great advantage of the e-trekking bike is that it is approved for road use due to the StVZO equipment and supports the carrying of luggage.
- E-MTB Men: Men who like to ride in challenging terrain or even overcome obstacles such as shallow ponds, narrow bridges and trees, e-mountain bikes are a good choice. The bikes are well-suspended and at the same time very stable, so that the bike will not break in case of a jump.
Among the e-bike men's mountain bike models, a distinction is made between e-bike Fully men and e-bike Hardtail men.
- E-roadbike men: e-road bikes can be used for training as well as for normal leisure rides. Road bikes are designed exclusively for use on the road, for straight routes at high speed. The lightweight construction and the additional drive make the e-road bike a real acceleration rocket.
Important aspects when deciding to buy an e-bike are the motor power, the charging time, the capacity of the battery and the range it allows. Furthermore, the frame material, frame size, brakes, suspension fork and other equipment (components) should be considered when buying an e-bike.
What to look for when buying a men's e-bike?
Focus on the intended use
The first step in choosing a new men's e-bike, as with any other bike, is to determine where you'll be using it. What kind of terrain will you be riding on, and for how long and often. What is your preferred riding position? Do you sit sportily or rather comfortably in the saddle? Depending on the demands you place on your e-bike, there are different models.
E-Hardtail or E-Fully
If you often ride off-road, then a suspension fork is an advantage for cushioning and protecting your arms, hands and joints. While the Fully is an e-mountain bike with suspension fork and suspended rear tri angle, only the fork of the Hardtail is suspended. Both types differ both in terms of handling and in terms of their range of use. The classic hardtail E-MTB is comparatively light, requires little maintenance and is cheaper to buy than a fully.
In difficult terrain with demanding surfaces, steep descents and stony trails, on the other hand, the E-Mountainbike-Fully is at home. Even on rough trails, you will experience a high level of riding comfort due to the gentle cushioning of impacts. The additional suspension also protects your back.
In addition to the intended use, you should also clarify the following questions:
- Battery
- Drive
- Sitting position
- Frame and frame size
Battery
A powerful battery with at least 400 Wh is indispensable for longer tours. The display on the e-bike is also important, because you can always see the battery status and your current speed. More about the battery can be found here.
Drive (motor)
You can choose between e-bikes with front-wheel, rear-wheel and mid-mounted motors - the latter are the most common and ensure a comfortable, central center of gravity on the bike. Higher-priced models offer a very long range and the battery recharges very quickly. Other models, however, focus on lightness of the motor, but this is reflected in the performance.
Among the manufacturers, there are engines from Bafang, Yamaha or Panasonic in addition to Bosch.
Seat position
Depending on the type of ride and area of use, the seating position varies. Therefore, the choice of saddle depends on the riding style and riding behavior. With all bicycle saddles, it is important to measure and determine the correct saddle width, because the wrong saddle can cause damage to your health.
With a professional consultation and a seat bone distance analysis, the optimal saddle can be found. We offer body scanning and can calculate and find the optimal ergonomic seating position on the bike as well as the perfect frame geometry.
Frame and frame size
The geometry of the bikes is more often oriented towards male ergonomics. The diamond frame is the classic men's e-bike shape that provides considerable stability, good comfort and sporty riding with decent weight. The trapezoidal frame is similar in its characteristics, losing a bit of sportiness. However, this is compensated for by easier mounting and dismounting.
It also makes perfect sense to consider so-called "ladies wheels" or unisex models. They offer additional comfort due to a lower entry and a more upright seating position.
Conclusion: The choice of the right e-mountain bike is not always a question of price, but depends - as you can see - on many factors. First and foremost, the area of use is crucial. No matter which e-bike model you choose, the riding fun should always be in the foreground.
What does e-bike hardtail mean?
The hardtail has a suspension fork at the front and is unsprung at the rear. Almost all suspension forks are air suspension forks ie the air in the chamber acts as a spring. This system is lightweight, and you can easily adjust the suspension to your weight via air pressure. Inexpensive variants are equipped with a steel spring forks. The e-bike hardtail is for those who are looking for a direct, light-footed e-mountain bike and want the most unfiltered riding experience possible. Depending on the area of use and riding style, the suspension travel of the suspension fork is crucial.
What is an e-bike Fully?
For ambitious use on the trail, a full-suspension Fully can perfectly compensate for and cushion bumps and irregularities. For maximum riding fun, a suspension fork is installed at the front and a rear linkage system with a spring damper is installed at the rear. This means that nothing stands in the way of downhill trails and cool jumps.
E-bike material
Aluminum or carbon? That is the question here. Both materials are common.
Aluminum is the cheaper frame material, carbon frames are more expensive because the material and processing is more expensive. Carbon is also lighter.
Lightweight material is usually a mixture of carbon and aluminum. Sometimes steel or titanium is also used. In terms of weight, titanium can certainly keep up with aluminum, steel is significantly heavier. In terms of price, steel is about the same as aluminum, titanium is much more expensive.
Determining the right frame size
To ensure that nothing stands in the way of fun, the right frame size is important. To do this, you need to know your height and measure your stride length . The stride length is the distance between the sole of the foot and the base of the hip, this distance is also called inner leg length. With the following formula you can calculate the frame size: stride length (centimeters) x 0,66 = frame size (centimeters).
You can also simply use our frame calculator. This will help you determine the correct frame size.
