VPP Suspension Design
Well-suspended, easy to pedal. The VPP Suspension Design is Santa Cruz's proprietary rear suspension system, so each bike can be optimized to achieve the right balance between drivetrain efficiency and rear performance. The suspension of our XC bikes is tuned so that despite effective suspension all energy is converted into propulsion. On our longer-stroke trail bikes, the rear end confidently absorbs even the biggest shocks to ensure the safest and most efficient ride possible in rough terrain. Particularly observant bikers may have noticed that Santa Cruz now has two types of VPP design. The lower baffle mounted shock mount offers a very progressive linear spring characteristic with fine response, good mid-travel support and strong progression towards the end of travel. Ideal for bikes designed for demanding terrain. The shock mounted on the upper bell crank, which we use on the shorter travel trail bikes, provides more pedal platform and is therefore even more drive neutral. This design is ideal for fast and agile bikes that need maximum support and good bottom-out resistance, making them particularly light on their feet.
