Pedals - This is where the muscle power is transferred to your bike!

There are two important tasks of pedals. Here transfer the power of the muscles. Often underestimated: the safe stand in the pedal. These two requirements are implemented very differently - depending on the purpose. There are three basic types of pedals. The platform pedals, the classic pedals (block pedals) and click pedals. Both forms can be found on the mountain bikes, the racing bikes, city bikes or the trekking bikes. Click pedals require the use of additional special shoes. Depending on the click system, the so-called cleats (retaining plates) are still added. The decisive factor is the specific requirement - choose your pedal accordingly!

MTB pedals - What is important?

All types of mountain bikes require precise control on the pedals. Large contact surfaces make sense here. The larger surface offers more control over the foot and enough surface for more grip. Light and dry terrain are thus well covered. If the surface becomes wetter and muddier, then it depends more on the slip resistance. Therefore, the click pedals are also becoming increasingly popular. There are also pedals available, which are equipped as a platform pedal with a click pedal - these pedals hold on both sides, what they promise: Flexibility in use.

Road bike pedals under pressure and pull

Road cyclists like to use the pull on the clipless pedal. Pulling on the rear foot releases additional energy and dynamics. These pedals can be additionally adjusted - for example, in the spin-out angle or the resistance when clicking out. A platform pedal cannot do that. If you want to use your road bike to fetch bread sometimes, you like to use a combination pedal of click & platform. So you do not always have to use the special shoes.

City & trekking pedals

Here, many customers want universal pedals. In the city it should work comfortably and practically with any shoe. In the trekking area, it depends more on the convenience. Combination pedals, which combine click pedals and platform pedals, are very popular. Even in the city, no one wants to slip off the pedal - quality is required here.
