Just in time for the 25th anniversary of the world’s first Balloonbike tyre, it’s here: Schwalbe’s Motion Big Apple – a tyre that makes a real statement thanks to its modern design and the highest standards of environmental friendliness. 

It is the direct successor to the Big Ben and the predecessor to the Big Apple.

The tyre’s environmental credentials:

• Addix Green: Schwalbe’s most environmentally friendly rubber compound, offering consistent performance, contains 80% renewable raw materials and recycled materials:
• Among other things, it uses 100% recycled carbon black (recovered Carbon Black, rCB) from Schwalbe’s tyre recycling programme.
• Made from 100% fair-trade natural rubber.

Comfort and shock absorption

At low pressure, the Schwalbe Motion Big Apple absorbs every bump and rolls effortlessly over tarmac as well as forest tracks. It offers absolute comfort and, thanks to its large volume, absorbs every impact – without the need for complex suspension technology. The versatile tread pattern incorporates modern design elements that are also reflected in the sidewall structure of the Motion Big Apple. 

Intended Use

The Motion Big Apple is suitable for e-bikes in the touring and urban segments, as well as for non-motorised trekking and city bikes. It’s ideal for everyday commutes to work, as well as for classic cycle tours. The Big Apple is also a good choice for children’s and young people’s bikes, as well as lightweight, non-motorised cargo bikes.

New Motion product family

The Motion Big Apple is also the first touring tyre to be included in Schwalbe’s new product range structure. ‘Motion’ represents a new product family within Schwalbe’s city/touring segment – complementing the well-known Marathon family. Further tyres from the Motion family will be launched in 2026.
